Autumn NC PATCON pictures from Dave Coffman

Dave gave an excellent two hour overview of the Tactical Combat Casualty Course (TCCC).  The full course lasts two week.

  1. Is that top picture a peacock or a turkey? Sorry if this is a silly question.

    1. Not really, as it is a poor picture and he has lost most all his beautiful feathers since it is no longer mating season. A Peacock. Here's a picture of him in full bloom!

  2. That picture is of a unique bird called a paon mâle.
It sat in a pecan tree all night above my tent and serenaded
me with a sound that sounded like a cross between a cat and a horse that was being étranglé.
As this species are related to pheasant, I am wondering what they taste like grilled over a bed of hickory coals and basted with some Carolina barbque sauce.

    1. You'll have to come back in the Spring and hear him when it's mating season!:)
