  4. Good point as it does cost money to just distribute the books.

Good luck Brock - my questions have never even received the courtesy of a response.

It would cost *NOTHING* to put the "e-book" (read: PDF, .txt, whatever) out for free on any number of "file sharing" sites.

According to Kerodin, he's not making ANY profit on them - he says the price barely covers costs, if that.

Further, I thought the "POINT" was to push the IDEAS into the general consciousness.

Let's face it - the only ones likely to buy the book are people who already fit the "III" mentality.

Give me an electronic file I can distribute at will, and I can then pass it along to countless people who might be "on the fence" or at least open-minded enough to consider what it says. Even those who reject it would have at least READ it!

If each person who reads it sends it to just one more, the growth would be large. TWO more would be exponential.

THREE more??!! Now it's gone "viral"!

Think how many more people you could reach if - instead of "books sold in gun shops at cost" you could put a small "sign" and a stack of business-cards pointing to the *FREE* download-address!

There's more. To be frank, I have some concerns about Kerodin as an individual, and given his history, I'm reluctant to send him money for a "3%" cause. I am not alone.

To be BLUNT, telling him who I am (name, address and phone - required so he can send me a book) is an even BIGGER concern. I am DEFINITELY not alone on this note either.

I have no wish to denigrate the man - his history is public knowledge. I truly hope he is sincere, but his actions leave room for questions, which in light of his history leads to uncomfortable conclusions...

With my big "mouth" I'm no-doubt already on about every "list" there is, but that's really not the point...

*IF* the point is the propagation of ideas, and not profit, then it makes no sense not to issue a free "electronic version" available for anonymous download.

Given the ongoing, undeniable insistence on demanding payment and collecting names and addresses in the process, I don't believe it's unreasonable to question the motives of someone with his history.

If the point is to "grow the movement" then the best way to accomplish THAT would be for Kerodin to relinquish control - starting with the "seminal text"...

Lastly, as Baen (ala "baen free library") has proven beyond doubt, unknown/niche authors will sell MORE "dead-tree" books if they release them in "ebook" format for free!

Those who really "connect" with the book nearly always buy a hard-copy - and MOST of these people are folks who would never have bought the book had they not read it first.

All of which brings me full-circle: Every legitimate purpose of the book would be BETTER served by releasing a FREE version.

Why does he continue to refuse to do so?
