  1. Thank you and Amen! We have our own 911 in our home for just such an emergency.

  2. Back in the days when Marshall Dillon was a two-day ride out of Dodge, every family had to protect itself by any means necessary from marauding Indians or bad guys. Today, sadly, little has changed. With budget cuts and personnel reductions, 911 response times in American communities may range from 7-10 minutes. As my neighbor (a sheriff deputy who believes reponsible families must be armed) explained, “Let’s say I’m dispatched to a 911 call. Mr. Jones hears noises outside his window and thinks it’s burglars. Maybe so, but maybe it’s a family of javelinas. Anyway, I’m heading out there when we get a silent holdup alarm at Denny’s. See you later, Mr. Jones. But suppose it’s the real deal--ten miles away a home invasion is in progress, and I’m the closest unit. Like the old saying goes, ‘When seconds count, I’ll be minutes away.’ So if Mr. Jones hopes to save his family, he damn well better have his Glock or a shotgun handy.”
