Al Sharpton: America’s First Illiterate News Anchor

Via California Tree of Liberty

NEW YORK – In a move to build on its reputation for diversity and equality, MSNBC has placed civil rights activist and opportunist Al Sharpton at the helm of his own news show. MSNBC president Phil Griffin confirmed that Sharpton will be hosting MSNBC Live at 6:00 PM and that Sharpton is indeed illiterate.

“We are proud to have, not just an illiterate, but an illiterate black man! What other network can claim a distinction of that caliber? The only way we could top that is if he was also a Muslim quadriplegic who’d been date raped at an Ivy League school.”

Reverend Sharpton appeared on the Maury Povich Show and shared his feelings about his new position at MSNBC.

MAURY POVICH: Reverend, how’s it feel to be a big time newscaster?

A commenter suggested that I don't write about Ron Paul because either I dislike him for some reason or I'm not terribly well-informed. While I don't dislike him, I'll confess to being beyond the stage, rightly or wrongly, where I think a certain politician can save us. Most of Paul's supporters, as far as I can tell, support him with a messianic fervor, which to someone like me is a distinct turn-off, plus he appears to have a few goofy supporters, such as some Truthers.

That being said, in my view Paul is the one candidate who would shake things up in the needed direction. He is against American imperialism, against American insolvency, and says some pretty strong things against the invasion of America.
A nation without borders is no nation at all. After decades of misguided policies America has now become a free-for-all. Our leaders betrayed the middle class which is forced to compete with welfare-receiving illegal immigrants who will work for almost anything, just because the standards in their home countries are even lower.

If these policies are not reversed, the future is grim. A poor, dependent and divided population is much easier to rule than a nation of self-confident individuals who can make a living on their own and who share the traditions and values that this country was founded upon.
Paul is against amnesty and birthright citizenship and, while he appears to say little about legal immigration, his position on illegal immigration is stronger and more forthright than any other candidate of either major party.

The usual suspects, namely the elites and our so-called free press, hate him; others on the right also hate him because he believes that America's foreign policy shouldn't be so focused on Israel and the Middle East. Those are indications that Paul is doing something right, in my estimation.

Paul has made a name for himself in his calls for sound money and his desire to abolish the Federal Reserve - which some see as "coded anti-Semitism". (That's probably why constitutional lawyer Bruce Fein just joined his campaign.) While sound money is indeed very important, to my mind the national question is the big issue. Paul comes close but isn't quite there. Nonetheless he looks promising on that issue.

The 13 Psy-Ops Against You

VERBATIM POST

Six months ago, Rolling Stone's Michael Hastings reported that the "U.S. Army illegally ordered a team of soldiers specializing in "psychological operations" to manipulate visiting American senators into providing more troops and funding for the war," in his article "Another Runaway General: Army Deploys Psy-Ops on U.S. Senators."

The reality that psychological operations play a big part in our 21st century, media-saturated society is rarely discussed in the print and television media, for obvious reasons. So I was very happy that Rolling Stones was shedding some light on the mental battlefield that politicians, soldiers, journalists, military generals, geopolitical analysts, think tank elitists, and citizens all live on in this century.

Alex Jones has made famous the idea that there is an Infowar being waged against the American people and the global public mind. This is a hundred percent true. We are at war with gangsters and corporate monopolists who control our governments from behind the scenes through a shadow and informal government-private network comprised of top government officials, corporate insiders, media kings, and politically connected individuals.

Whether you are watching television on your couch, manning a checkpoint in Iraq, propagating the latest talking points in Washington, or surfing the internet, the information we breathe into our mental lungs and muscles of perception is perhaps as important as the air we breathe in our homes, offices and streets. Through the suppression and perversion of information, we become enslaved to politically constructed perceptions and fake narratives that a benefit a privileged few.

Making people familiar with the concept that our current reality is manipulated and politically engineered is a slow process, but not impossible. Once the full awakening to the truth happens inside an individual it's like waking up to a whole new world. After that, it becomes an obsession to strengthen your mental muscles of perceptions and achieve as much mental clarity as possible about the crazy world you live in.
Below, I list, according to my knowledge, the most important thirteen psychological operations that are being carried out against you, without your consent, by the power elite in America, Israel and the West.

1. The war on terror is a war on your rights, privacy, mind and everyday reality. This is a war fought in the name of goodness and freedom, but increasingly the architecture of propaganda that surrounds the war is falling apart.
In America and other Western nations freedom fighters are being demonized as domestic terrorists, while real terrorists like the al-Qaeda fighters in Libya are hailed by the Western media as defenders of liberty. Clearly, the propaganda in the war on terror does not add up.

2. The war on Social Security, Medicare, public pension plans, the general welfare, and the public good. Say what you will about government pension programs, the fact remains that seniors and workers put their own money aside every month under the assumption that the federal government would hold up its end of the deal.
A government program is not "an entitlement" when you paid taxes for the program. The only industries that are receiving government entitlements are the military, big banks, and political monopolies like GE, Monsanto, etc. These banks and corporations, especially the private Federal Reserve Bank, have committed crimes and robbed the American people. Abusing the political system in Washington is one thing, but destroying an entire nation is treasonous and unforgivable.

3. The war on self-sufficiency. The federal government in Washington is not allowing American citizens and families secure independent sources of economic livelihood and access alternative food markets and trade markets. The war on raw milk, organic farming, local production of food, and small farms is an attack on the American family, the community, and the nation. Who benefits? A few monopolistic, anti-free market, multinational corporations. They are political monopolies. Every totalitarian state has them. And the same trend can be seen in other Western nations.
As Alex Jones says in this video: "They don't want you growing your own crops and selling it to your neighbour, or producing your own eggs and selling it, or having lemonade stands. That's all over. The whole police state apparatus is here to revenue generate and to shut down the underground economy. That's the essence of an occupied country."

4. The war on knowledge and freedom of information. The greatest weapon that the tyrants who control modern secret intelligence agencies have on their side is the public disbelief about the evil nature of their existence, aims, goals and methods. Any truth that implicates the CIA, Israel's Mossad and the MI6 in treasonous crimes against the populations they are meant to serve and defend is smeared as a "conspiracy theory." The corporate-state media is complicit in this concerted attack on public knowledge and real history.
If it wasn't for the success of the alternative media and voices like Alex Jones, Jesse Ventura, Richard Gage, David Ray Griffin, William Rodriguez, as well as others who tell the truth about the 9/11 attacks, then there would be no hope to speak of. We would be lost, and defenseless against the evil forces of tyranny.

5. The war on hope. It is a fallacy that there are no heroes in the present age. John F. Kennedy was a hero. William Cooper was a hero. Ron Paul is a hero. Alex Jones is a hero. Jesse Ventura is a hero. It is important to praise such people because they tell the truth, defend the public good, and fight for freedom.
The reason why the establishment media says "Ron Paul can't win," even when he is leading in the polls is because they want the American people to admit defeat, and pick between two evils in the voting booth every four years. But there is hope to improve the political situation and restore the people's voice in the American government. President Obama does not represent that hope. He is the anti-hope virus who is eating away at the fruits of hope from inside the system which is controlled by larger political and economic forces.

6. The war on reality and truth. This is an era of media misinformation, political fantasies and lies. There is a siege on the American mind and the global mind. This is also a war on real history and real science. What the 9/11 fraud and the laughable NIST report on World Trade Center 7 shows is that even in this scientifically advanced age, even in a supposedly democratic society, political and economic elites are able to use the name of science to cover up their crimes.

7. The war on language. The strategic deployment of language by politicians, the pentagon, corporations and media institutions to win political points, and advance their secret, undeclared agendas, is a basic fact of our age.
The social, cultural and political programming of society through the deliberate misuse of language should be categorized as a crime against humanity. Those institutions and individuals who practice the manipulation of language to twist the public mind and confuse the herd should be held accountable in some form.
Political talking points have no place in public conversations about large and complicated issues. The soundbite media and the teleprompter presidency are serious threats to the public good. Notice how Barack Obama speaks. The guy is a robot and a machine who doesn't have real thoughts of his own.
Most successful politicians like Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, George Bush and Rick Perry have to act like robots because they are inauthentic creatures who smile and wave at you while behind your back they screw you. As John Lennon said, "But first you must learn how to smile as you kill, If you want to be like the folks on the hill."

8. The war on public trust, and true community spirit. The Department of Homeland Security's spy campaign is meant to create public fear and collective suspicion. Their spying apparatus is focused on peaceful political activities and protests, as well as normal, everyday behaviour.
Its "If You See Something, Say Something" program is an attempt at manufacturing community spirit, but it will only create public division and citizen mistrust. The totalitarian governments of East Germany and the Soviet Union told its citizens that spying on your neighbour is good for society, and this is the same thing that America's totalitarian government is telling the American people.
East Germany and the Soviet Union ended up in spiritual hell, and America will end up there too if the DHS is not abolished.

9. The war on individual instincts, creative self expression and authentic political speech. There are few things more human than authentic speech. A society that shuns authentic speech is spiritually and morally dead. The politician is the antithesis of authenticity. The most successful politicians lead double lives and speak falsely. The reason why I love Ron Paul is because he is an authentic man who serves only one master: his country.

10. The war on the sacred warrior spirit. The exploitation of American soldiers and NATO soldiers in the war on terror is beyond shameful. It is an act of treason against humanity to use soldiers as slaves, to be deployed wherever and whenever.
Laying down your life for your country is a great spiritual and moral commitment, and this great spirit of patriotism in the American military has been deliberately used for evil purposes by the criminal shadow governments in Washington and Israel.
This spirit exits in all of us, but more so in people who decide to be soldiers. It is a spiritual and moral duty that you do not allow evil forces in government to misuse your warrior spirit for their own selfish purposes.
Always question, and always demand the facts whenever you are told to kill the "enemy."

11. The war on the law, peace and order. The banker-owned U.S. empire, NATO and Israel are guilty of war crimes, aggression, creating global chaos, destabilizing sovereign nations, starting world war three, false flag attacks like 9/11 and 7/7, and funding and training terrorist groups. Taken together, their actions represent the rape of the rule of law, justice, truth, and peace.

12. The war on nature and God's creation. Biotech giants like Monsanto are greedily hijacking the planet and destroying the natural ecosystem. The Earth is being privatized, and stolen from the majority of humanity, who are the children of God. Corporations and banks are committing crimes against humanity and against the natural order of things in our faces, as if we're not even there.
Our collective instincts for survival have to kick in before we can kick out these psychopathic pirates, and restore the rule of law and justice on our planet. You are part of God's creation, as are the people who are being slaughtered in Iraq and Afghanistan. Don't mistake your wrath against the looting bankers and treasonous state terrorists as primitive and savage. It is not. God's wrath is what saves countries and civilizations from becoming infected with too much corruption and sin.

13. The war on collective memory.
"This was a major event that was really a television event. People really understood this through television. But it was recontextualized very quickly. You see, within hours, it started to be deemed an attack on America. But it wasn’t that way in the beginning. So, how people are starting to come to grips with it really shaped how we saw the whole event." - Brewster Kahle, speaking to Amy Goodman on Democracy Now about the 9/11 attacks on August 24, 2011.
Constructing a collective memory for a criminal political agenda was the job of the mass media in America and the West on September 11, 2001. Government officials from the U.S. national security state and the Israeli national security state were invited to talk as much as they wanted on CNN, BBC, ABC, NBC, and other television channels following the traumatic events on 9/11.
These officials, such as Israel's Defense Minister Ehud Barak, used precious time to commit an evil and treasonous act against America and humanity. They deliberately created a false political narrative about the threat of international terrorism to Western civilization, made Osama Bin laden a scapegoat for the attacks, and demanded that America retaliate against manufactured enemies, i.e. Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Al-Qaeda and Islamic terrorists.

Collective memory is a funny thing. Since 9/11, we have witnessed what Martin Griffin, an assistant professor of English at the University of Tennessee, calls "the political manipulation of collective memory," in his book, "Ashes Of The Mind: War and Memory in Northern Literature, 1865-1900," (Griffin; 2009. University of Massachusetts Press: Amherst, Massachusetts. Pg. 27).
Griffin used the phrase in the context of cultural and literary responses by Northern writers to the American Civil War during the late 19th century, but the phrase is applicable to the post-9/11 world as well.
The American empire was such a big and dynamic superpower in the beginning of the 21st century that it was able to manufacture a global history about a single event, 9/11, and a global narrative about terrorism, which is a worldwide and generational phenomenon.

When America power is discussed it's important to highlight the fact that America's cultural power is much greater than its military power and it is used for the purposes of domination. The American media reaches the whole world, making America the first nation in history to have its collective memory become the memory of all nations and all peoples.
However, alternative expressions of collective memory about the 9/11 attacks have been voiced across the world, but primarily by Americans. The first people to see the truth about 9/11 were Americans. Radio hosts William Cooper and Alex Jones credited the attacks to the American government on the day of 9/11.
It is global public knowledge now that the 9/11 attacks were a joint military and media operation that involved both private and public actors in America and Israel.
In future articles, I will write more about the political and cultural construction of collective memory in the mass media age. The role that television and images play in creating false memories and false perceptions of reality is already known to many people, but we need to know more about it because innocent human beings are dying due to our collective ignorance.

"The true character of liberty is independence, maintained by force."

Horrific Numbers for Obama in Florida

Excellent numbers, as far as I'm concerned.
====================================

Among all respondents, only 37% approve of the job the President is doing and 57% disapprove of the job he is doing. Again looking at key voter subgroups, 53% of women, 56% of independents, 72% of Hispanics and 59% of seniors disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing. The most alarming number for the President and his election team is that 26% of Democrats disapprove of the job he is doing. Among voters aged 18 to 29, 48% approve of the job he is doing and 52% disapprove of thejob he is doing.

Among all respondents, 37% think Barack Obama deserves re‐election and 57% think he does not deserve re‐election. Among women voters, 55% do not think the President deserves re‐election. Among other key voting subgroups, 55% of independents, 72% of Hispanics, 60% of seniors, and 27% of Democrats think the President does not deserve re‐election. Among voters aged 18 to 29, 38% think Barack Obama deserves re‐election and 50% think he does not deserve re‐election.

No Need for War to Free the Slaves

Wartime governor of North Carolina, Zebulon Vance, questioning why a war was necessary to eradicate African slavery, pointed out what slave-trading New England had done with their slaves only a few decades earlier. Like the Pequot Indians who survived New England’s violent expansion, most were sold into slavery in the West Indies or Southern plantations -- and New England became known as the “free States.” The Pequot tribe has been compensated for these wrongs with a gambling casino.

========
Time, as Zeb Vance had thought from the beginning, would have shown ways for solving the intersectional discord. Time would have brought freedom to the slaves, which appeared to be the only benefit to come out of the civil war. Emancipation could have been achieved as quickly in peace as in war had the best thought of the government been focused in that direction, and in a manner much more orderly and beneficial to the Negro population. The former slaves were left stranded and virtually helpless for years.

They received no mule and forty acres, but crowded into the Southern cities when the plantations were wiped out. Certainly emancipation could have been attained by purchase at vastly less cost in money and without the irreparable sacrifice in young lives and maimed bodies in both the North and the South. The best thought in both sections aspired toward emancipation, but government initiative lagged.

He (Vance) would sometimes jibe at Massachusetts by telling how that State relieved herself of slavery. Massachusetts was like the old maid who was fond of garish jewelry but got religion, and exhorted young pretty women against wearing geegaws.

"Oh, girls," she said, "I used to wear ear rings and laces and furbelows like you, but I found they were dragging my immortal soul down to hell and I stripped off every one of them."

"What did you do with them," she was asked.

"Why," she said, I sold them to my little sister."

VERBATIM POST

Reflections on Social Policy
This is long and readers who can produce proof of narcolepsy can be excused from reading the whole thing. But I thought it worthwhile.

I'm supposed to write this column, and generally do. Today I'll let a reader do some of it. First, a prologue:

I recently wrote a column saying that the black underclass is out of control, becoming more confrontational, attacking whites and robbing stores in flash mobs, and that whites are more openly getting sick of it, that the media are hiding the identity of the malefactors less, and that a lot of white guys are thinking, ”Bring it on.” I got mail from white supremacists saying, yeah, Fred, but you lack the testosterone to state the solution, which (I've known some of these guys) approximates “Kill all the niggers.” Actually, the damage this would do to American music makes it unworkable, apart from the fact that my genocidal inclinations are limited to the contents of Capitol Hill. Anyhow, I've got a better idea. Bear with me.

The black underclass is not the natural state of blacks. E.g.: I grew up in rural King George Country, Virginia in the early Sixties. Segregation reigned. We went to King George High, the black kids to Ralph Bunche. We seldom saw each other, and didn't associate. Yet if there had been crime by blacks, certainly against whites, we would have heard of it. Or a high rate of illegitimacy, or drugs. Weren't none. The thought that the black kids couldn't read didn't occur for the simple reason that they could. Ralph Bunche was not a hotbed of violence or beatings of teachers. We would have known. The black kids were as heavily armed as we were, which was very, for reasons involving deer. No shootings, of anyone by anyone. No thought of shooting. It wasn't how we were, us or them. No flash mobs. No fist-fights (between races, anyway).

That was in the countryside. In the cities? In came the following long email which I have edited only to conceal the writer's identity.

"Your article had a number of very salient observations about the state of American culture today.

"Please allow me to make a couple of observations that come from experience. I believe your description of the inner city black is accurate to a point. I also believe that your observations can and should also be applied to the Muslim and Hispanic populations in our country today. None of those cultures are capable of or willing to assimilate themselves into “the great melting pot” that has always been America.

I am [in my late sixties] and grew up in the inner city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Some of your observations so troubled me that I called my [much older] sister and read parts of your article to her and asked her if she had observed this simmering hatred while we were growing up. She thought a long time and finally said no, not when we were growing up but she does see it now in the young blacks and Muslims.

"When we were growing up we were the definite minority in our schools and because of this we played in the homes of our black friends and they came to our house to play. There was no “racial tension” in the classroom or in the school. We were ALL there to learn, we knew what the rules were and if we were disciplined at school for breaking any of those rules we were double disciplined when we got home. There was NONE of the “my child wouldn’t do that” or “you can’t discipline my child”. We were all in the same boat. We were all there to learn and our job was to work hard, get an education and work our way out of those neighborhoods.

"Each black family had two parents. (I only knew one child of divorce while I was going to school and she was the daughter of a white female liberal that flaunted the rules of that society.) The black fathers in each of those families would never have sat still in the face of an impending Category 4 or 5 hurricane, as was the case in New Orleans before the arrival of Katrina waiting for help from the government. Those black fathers would have packed up their families, in a heartbeat, and gotten them to safety without any help from the government, churches or charities. In those black families it was as much of a shame for a girl to be “in a family way” outside of marriage as it was for a white family. Those girls were whisked off to Atlanta or Chicago or Miami for a year of school and they would return a year later childless with a little thicker waistline and a whole new attitude.

"It wasn’t until “The Great Society” and the “War on Poverty” and Lyndon Johnson that the black family began to fall apart. The old adage is “The road to hell is paved in good intentions” and I believe that the liberals that designed the welfare programs were well intentioned but WRONG. Rules are meant to be broken and programs are designed for people to capitalize on the weak points and misapply them to their advantage. This is what I saw happen with the black families when the father moved out, stayed down the street and only came by for conjugal visits which increased the family’s income. The black father and young men were no longer hard working heads of the their families but part of disjointed groups that were intent on personal gratification and working the system and they developed a “plantation mentality” with the government being the great provider and not the men of the family.

"When “Motor Voter” came in I was [involved] in our county and I immediately saw that we had succeeded in breaking down the black family and that now the government was intent on breaking down the white family. We had as many voter applications coming in from “social service” agencies for unmarried single parent, young white women as we got from minority applicants in the same boat. These fatherless families cannot teach a young boy how to be a man – just as a single father cannot teach his daughter the niceties of being a cultured young lady.

"Like you I have been able to walk the streets, not of Japan, but of Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Georgia, Pittsburgh, and many other American cities late at night either alone or with a companion without concern for my safety. Jesse Jackson said some fifteen years ago that he was relieved to find that the footsteps behind him in a major American city were those of a white man."

This problem wasn't born. It was made.

Jeffrey Lord – Another Paul Hater

Conservative Heritage Times
VERBATIM POST
============================
RedPhillips

I had held off on commenting on this dust-up in conservative webdom because I commented in the replies to the article, and after fighting the same battle over and over again I just get emotionally exhausted. Some people are just not educable, and it is a waste of time and bandwidth to continue to argue with them.

But since it has blown up even more and become a story of its own, I guess I should cover it for thoroughness sake.

Yesterday Jeffrey Lord wrote this sloppy hatchet piece that appeared on American Spectator. As of this morning it had nearly 600 comments. Now the comments appear to have been taken down. I don’t know if they became too overwhelming in number or just too rancorous. Hopefully AmSpec will explain.

Then today AmSpec posted a reply from Jack Hunter and a reply to the reply by Jeffrey Lord. (189 comments at the time of this posting.)

This morning Kevin Gutzman and Tom Woods appeared on the Mike Church show to discuss the Lord article. (Gutzman also corrected some of Lord’s faulty history in the comments section of the original article before comments were taken down.)

Today Mark Levin posted this attack on Hunter and all things Paul on his Facebook page.

There is simply too much here to cover so I will just allow our readers to click on the links and see for themselves. I will note that Mark Levin is an unusually nasty piece of work. He says that Lord makes “mincemeat” of Hunter. This is delusional. Hunter destroys Lord. I know I’m biased, but I think any unbiased observer would easily recognize that Hunter gets the better of the argument. Hunter is calm and rational. Lord’s reply is emotional and quickly resorts to spurious attempts to smear. Levin as well does not argue the substance of the debate at all, whether non-interventionism is a conservative policy. He goes immediately to frothing smear mode. He even calls Woods a lightweight. This too is delusional. Levin clearly does not like to have “conservative” interventionist groupthink criticized and his defense of choice appears to be attack instead of rational intellectual discourse.

Here is Jack’s Facebook reply to Levin:

Mark Levin, you can write Facebook posts, trash me on the air, trash Tom Woods, call me a sissy, use surrogates to attack me or Congressman Paul in different forums–but the one thing you will not do is debate me. Ever. Sean Hannity deserves credit for allowing different guests on, even when he disagrees them. Levin is still afraid to step foot outside his bunker.

Here is Jack’s comment introducing his AmSpec reply.

Note that in Lord’s response, he simply asserts that Paul’s foreign policy is still “leftist,” ignoring that I note that everyone from Bill Buckley to Jack Kemp disagreed.

I made this same observation in my comment. Lord essentially says Ron Paul’s foreign policy is liberal because it is.

Now have fun with the links.

Legislation Will Protect Gun Rights on Army Corps of Engineers Land

Contribution

Gun Owners of America is working with several members of Congress to repeal a gun ban on land controlled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Currently, guns are prohibited on Corps land, even when firearms possession is otherwise allowed by state law. Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH) introduced legislation—the Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act (H.R. 1865)—to allow state law to govern firearms possession.

You may recall that in July, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) offered similar language as an amendment to an appropriations bill. Gosar’s amendment passed the House on a voice vote, but its fate is uncertain as it heads to the Senate.

The Gibbs bill, as well as the Gosar amendment, is modeled after a similar measure that became law in 2009 affecting National Park Service land. Army Corps of Engineers land was not part of that bill, something the Corps was quick to point out after that law took affect.

The Corps said, in a statement: “Public Law 111-024 does not apply to Corps projects of facilities . . . [and the Army Corps] will continue to prohibit loaded concealed weapons on Corps properties regardless of the new law and notwithstanding any contrary provisions of state law.”

Rep. Gibbs’ bill will reverse the Corps’ decision.

“The Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act is a bipartisan effort to restore Second Amendment rights to law-abiding citizens while they are legally camping, hunting, and fishing on the 11.7 million acres of Army Corps recreational property,” Gibbs said. “Families and sportsmen taking advantage of this federal land should not have to worry that their legally obtained concealed weapon permit is invalid.”

Gun Owners of America applauds the efforts of Reps. Gibbs and Gosar, and will continue to push for repeal of the gun ban affecting over 400 lake and river projects, 90,000 campsites and 4,000 miles of trails controlled by the Army Corps of Engineers.

ACTION: Please contact your Representative and urge him or her to cosponsor H.R. 1865, the Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act.

Civil War (sic) Chaplains Project - Please Help

Old Virginia Blog
VERBATIM POST
========================

Recently the National Civil War Chaplains Museum submitted several grant proposals to various organizations in order to fund our project of collecting images and information for a database of all of the known Confederate chaplains, priests, and rabbis who served during the War Between the States. (This had already been accomplished for Union Chaplains.) The Museum has received conditional approval of a $5000 grant for one of those requests. Details to come as soon as the grant is confirmed. The research process for this project is as follows:

A. The Chaplains Museum will employ a graduate history student from Liberty University to conduct the research. (In case a graduate history student is not available, a senior history undergraduate will be employed.)
B. The student will be employed for 40 hours per month at the rate of $10.00 per hour to conduct the research under the supervision of the Museum Director.
C. The text Faith in the Fight will be utilized in the research. This book already gives the name, life dates, denomination, and unit association of known CSA chaplains, priests, and rabbis. However, in some instances not all of this information is available for each figure. Missing from this listing in the text are images of each and other anecdotal information.
D. Further research on each figure will be augmented by searches per Ancestry.com, unit histories per the Internet, texts such as Soldiers of the Cross by Kent Dollar, A Narrative of the Great Revival Which Prevailed in the Southern Armies During the Late Civil War by W. W. Bennett, Christ in the Camp by J. William Jones, Religion and the American Civil War by Miller, Stout, and Wilson, and The Spirit Divided: Memoirs of Civil War Chaplains: The Confederacy by John Wesley Brinsfield, Jr.
E. Other contribution sources could include information from institutions such as the Museum of the Confederacy and U. S. Archives and solicitation of chaplain info via the Museum’s web site and CW related publications such as Civil War Courier, Civil War News, and The Confederate Veteran.
F. Once every four months the information will be collated, organized, and uploaded on the Museum’s data system.
G. Upon completion of the research, a copy of the data base will be sent to the headquarters of the SCV (as earlier requested) and made available to the public via the Museum’s stipulations.

If any of my readers have ancestors who served as Confederate Chaplains, or, if you have any information, photographs, Bibles, letters, diaries, etc. related to any CSA Chaplain that you'd be willing to either loan or allow the museum to photograph and/or copy, your kindness would be greatly appreciated.

For further details, you may comment here or contact me or, you may contact the museum's director, Professor Kenny Rowlette at 434-582-2087.

Before I go, I had a bit of time to make to variations of bumper stickers based on the “If you see something, film something” poster I designed since a couple people said they were interested in that. I’m not sure if I’m happy with the design yet, but it’s what I was able to do in the time I had. Let me know what you think.

Obama 39%, Paul 38%

The president and the maverick are running almost dead even in a hypothetical 2012 election matchup.

Texas Republican Congressman Ron Paul earns 38% of the vote to President Obama’s 39% in the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters. Fourteen percent (14%) like some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) remain undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Just a month ago, Obama posted a 41% to 37% lead over Paul, who ran second to Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann in the recent high-profile Ames Straw Poll in Iowa.

Paul, whose long run afoul of the GOP establishment with his libertarian policy prescriptions, picks up 61% of the Republican vote, while 78% of Democrats fall in behind the president. Voters not affiliated with either of the major political parties prefer the longtime congressman by 10 points – 43% to 33%.

Getting Off The Globalist Chess Board: Safe Haven Relocation

By Brandon Smith & Stewart Rhodes

Special Note: This is the second part in our ‘Getting Off The Globalist Chessboard’ series. Go here to read Part I. Also go to Operation Sleeping Giant for more information , and, be sure to check out our recently launched Safe Haven State Project (page still under construction).

As we noted in part one of this series:

“To put it simply, America is nearing a checkmate scenario. Like the final torrid maneuvers of a rigged chess match, we have been pressed, manipulated, and attacked into the last remaining corner of the “grand global chessboard” left to us; centralized control of all social and economic power into the hands of an unworthy elite. If we continue playing the game by their rules, we will lose. There is no doubt. There have been many solutions presented to us in the past to combat this development, but nearly all of them function within the constraints of Federal politics. Working within the system has earned us no quarter, and frankly, no results. Our only recourse (and, frankly, the best recourse all along) is to STOP relying on the rules of their game, and to walk away from the chess board completely...”

Ideally, it would be grand if enough Americans across this nation would decouple from the fraudulent fiat system so that they and their communities could be sufficiently strong, independent, and resilient enough to weather the coming storm and walk out the other side free. Whatever our individual circumstances, wherever we are, we should work toward that goal; decentralized and sovereign – starting with ourselves, then working outward to galvanize and steel our families, our close friends and distant relatives, our neighborhoods, towns, counties, and then, of course, our states.

Through this effort, we greatly improve our own chances, and equally important, the chances of our communities and our country. It is not only for us to save ourselves, but also to restore our Republic, from the ground up.

We also need to face the reality that an economic collapse is very likely to come before such a renaissance of preparedness will see the light of day. We must accept that in many parts of modern day America, we will not be able to wake up enough people in time to prevent a U.S. version of what we now see in the riots of England, as well as what we saw here in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, but on a national scale – unprepared people who are desperate and scared, or those who are willing to take advantage of the situation to loot, rob, rape, assault, and even kill their fellow citizens.

Some might say that in times like these, uncertainty reigns supreme. However, for those of us in the Liberty Movement, who have spent years carefully tracking the negative progressions of our economy, our government, and our culture, the future is disturbingly clear. We’ve all noticed the turning of the tide, in financial sectors, in political attitudes, in social interaction, in law and law enforcement; our country is, indeed, eroding before our very eyes. It is degrading into something unrecognizable; something monstrous. The pace has quickened, especially in 2011, and those who have chosen to “wait out” the storm in the hopes of a comprehensive top down solution are becoming more and more disappointed and disenchanted.

This is not to say that astounding strides have not been made. The Liberty Movement has an incredibly strong and decisive presence on the internet and in our society today, something that we could not boast three years ago. Efforts to educate the public on globalism, central banking, and economic collapse have brought substantial results that are visible now even in the so called mainstream. However, root problems of centralization and fiscal instability remain. These problems will never be undone unless we are first honest with ourselves.

The painful reality is that right now the general populace is urbanized, collectivized, and addicted to the speed and ease of technological amenities to the point that many cannot live without them. This simply will not do.

It is historically evident that in every modern economic collapse, city dependent cultures are far less resilient than farming cultures. During the hyperinflationary crisis of 1920s Wiemar Germany, Austria, and Hungary, those tied to city life, indeed, went hungry, while those in the country had food. In fact, with extreme currency devaluation, farmers no longer had any incentive to trade food for worthless fiat money, and thus stopped supplying large population centers altogether. Though just as “poor” as any city dweller, farmers were able to live on their own produce and labor, and began bartering with their rural neighbors. People trapped in the dregs of metropolitan dependency did not have that option, and desperately hocked grand pianos and the family silver for mere sacks of potatoes. This has happened over and over again, with Argentina being the most recent example of a sophisticated modern nation suffering hunger in its cities during hyperinflation.

America is truly on a similar path, and the outcome will undoubtedly be the same…

While awareness is growing, a primary focus or framework for activism is still elusive. The movement seems to be pulling itself in too many directions at once in search of answers, and without a foundation for proactive measures. Many participants and activists feel isolated from one another, or even surrounded by less prepared swaths of the American public. Organization is limited primarily to interactions on the web, and face to face cooperation is rare. If a full spectrum economic collapse were to occur today, or even a moderate breakdown, we would NOT be ready for the panic that would follow. This is the bottom line which we must acknowledge if we are to finally move forward.

Political and legal recourse has so far failed to produce tangible results, and is unlikely to do so before a serious crisis unfolds. So the question is; what solutions are left to us?

At Alt-Market and Oath Keepers, we believe that the best solutions are those which can be implemented by each individual American without reliance on legislators, bureaucracy, or political solutions alone. While we do encourage people to take back their towns, counties, and state governments, kicking out the corrupt oath breakers and replacing them with solid liberty advocates, we must also work outside the political sphere, taking personal responsibility to strengthen ourselves and our communities by private action and free association.

The Founders never intended that we simply sit around and wait for “officials” to save us. We must work both in the public and in the private arenas. We certainly don’t have time to wait for lawmakers to find their sanity or their honor, and so, in many respects we must walk away from the rigged game entirely, and take matters into our own hands. This means first and foremost decoupling from the broken mainstream financial system, and building networks for Alternative Markets as well as for mutual defense in the event of disaster.

First steps towards this end include relocating away from areas with a high potential for danger. Of course, in any region, prepping with food storage, survival gear, and a personal garden is essential. Ideally, your neighbors should also be aware, prepared, and already involved in food production and barter. You should strive to build such robust community wherever you are (even if in the city), but country settings definitely offer greater opportunity. Rule #1: Go where the food is! Regardless of the state you live in, get out of the city and into a rural area.

Next, a community’s proximity to urban environments must be considered. Many rural retreats are still vulnerable to being flooded by unprepared city dwellers in search of food at the onset of collapse. James Wesley, Rawles, of Survival Blog, refers to this as the “Golden Hoard”, and advocates living at least one tank of gas distance from major metropolitan areas.

Just as there are better places to live in each state, there are also better states to live in; what we call “Safe Havens.” Rural states with low population, abundant water, plentiful game, natural resources, fertile farmland, and defensible terrain, along with a relatively self reliant population, can rightly be considered safe haven states. These states will fare better than others in adapting and overcoming in the face of any crisis.

Many fantastic efforts have been launched over the past decade which follow this concept.
