Marines Pass the Huey Torch

"There is no such thing as a midlife crisis. Men are often accused of having one when they buy a sports car and start dating women half there age. However, upon further examination, you will notice that until they reach middle age they usually can 't afford a sports car, and if they date women half their age before then they may be arrested. "

A Marine Corps helicopter known as one of the Vietnam Era's most iconic aircraft is officially history.

The Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469 (HMLA-469 ) and Marine Light Attack Training Squadron 303 (HMLA-T 303) honored the UH-1N Huey in a farewell ceremony at MCAS Camp Pendleton Friday afternoon.

The old "November" model huey is being replaced by the next generation, UH-1Y "Yankee" aircraft, which flies faster, lifts more and uses more powerful weapons.

The Yankee is also equipped with advanced computer operating systems that mimic video-gaming system controls and displays.

Crews with HMLA-469 were the first to use the new UH-1Y during combat operations in Afghanistan last year. Pilots say the chopper performed exceptionally well in the hot dusty climate in Helmand Province.

It's increased speed and improved communications systems meant teams could complete more ambitious close air support missions with its leaner, more lethal cousin, the Super Cobra attack helicopter.

While the UH-1N, first used in 1969, had trouble keeping up with the Cobra in the past, that's not the case for the Yankee model, at least for now.

HMLAT-303 is the first squadron to train with the lighting fast new AH-1Z "Zulu" SuperCobras. Camp Pendleton Marines are expected to take Zulus on their first combat deployment later this year.

The New Huey and New Super Cobra are made by Bell Helicopters. More than 80 percent of the parts on the aircraft are interchangeable.

"A protest against the visit of the President of the United States, Barack Obama, sparked uproar and confusion in downtown Rio de Janeiro at night this Friday (6/3). A molotov cocktail bottle arremassada against the Consulate would have started the confusion. A security of the Consulate was injured.The police responded with gunfire, rubber bullets, pepper spray and moral effect bombs against demonstrators."

SPLC Ostracizes Patriots…Again

View Image

Columbia, MO, March 18, 2011 – It’s Spring and you know what that means. The Southern Poverty Law Center has issued its Spring Intelligence Report. The “Active ‘Patriot’ Groups in the United States in 2010” is always good entertainment. Since when is it bad to be considered a patriot? Along with the Spring publication, the SPLC has also issued a couple of other interesting pieces. One is “SPLC Report Examines Extremist Views of Lawmakers Attacking 14th Amendmentand the other is “The Legislators: The Dirty Dozen.”

In a letter to Mark Potok, I ask since when is being a patriot a bad thing? And, not that I am sad about being labeled a “Patriot Group”, but since when do a films, websites or a film company constitute a "Patriot Group?" Potok is an award-winning mainstream journalist, having worked for USA Today, the Dallas Times Herald and the Miami Herald. So…what happened to his journalistic integrity?

Just to set the record straight for Potok, the SPLC and the rest of the world. Camp FEMA and Don’t Tread On Me are feature length, well researched documentaries. Take Back Washington and Restore the Republic are websites and William Lewis Films is a film production company consisting of two people!

So, what, exactly, landed these different modes of communication, NOT groups, on the ‘Patriot Group” list of this years edition of The Intelligence Report? Could it be that all furnish the viewer/reader with information about egregious actions, or the possibility of future actions, taken by our government against its role in protecting our Constitutional rights, or against the Constitution, itself? Could it be that someone, somewhere, say Mr. Potok, is upset at the fact that we, as web site hosts, film producer/directors, or independent journalists question what is going on in our country today rather than follow along obediently like good little sheep? I thought the whole purpose of this country was for our central government to stay out of our lives and protect us from oppressive behaviors of governments, as in those of England at the time of our Country’s founding? Possibly the SPLC and Mr. Potok should brush up on their history a bit!

Petersburg National Battlefield to commemorate Battle of Fort Stedman Saturday

On the right side of this site is a video below "53rd North Carolina, Fort Mahone/ "Fort Damnation" Petersburg, Virginia" which shows some of the Confederate dead in Fort Mahone the day after the retreat to Appomattox.

The Attack On Fort Stedman, And (My Great Grandfather)

Lee's Surrender, By My Great Grandfather

Lest Darkness Fall
"While walking along Harrison Creek, where the advance from Ft. Stedman stalled in the face of overwhelming numbers, my thoughts turned to what we have lost. American Liberty, the very founding principles of the United States were following the advance and retreat of this battle.

The results are very sad. When this line of Grey crumpled and began retreating, I am sure sadness was felt by men such as Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and George Mason, for their great sacrifices and wisdom was what was at stake. Looking down upon the ebb and tide of this battle, they would have known that their creation, American Liberty, had lost.

Today there are US flags fluttering in the wind, gloating over the blood and defeat of the defenders of American Liberty, our Confederate forefathers. No where to be seen, was even one token Flag in memory of the men who died in their effort to preserve American Liberty for us, their future generations. Mind you, not a single Flag in their honour, not one single Flag in honour of our country. Not a single Flag to remind us of what our forefathers fought for and to show respect.

I am very proud to state that before the end of the day, our Flag of Honour and Distinction was very obvious on the National Park Service Petersburg Battlefield. All around the “Keep Off” signs at Fort
Stedman, where one last effort was made against overwhelming odds, flew our Battleflag.

Across the very ground tread in the desperate effort to break the line of the invaders of our country, around The Crater, in the homestead of residents burned out in typical yankee style, along the breastworks where our Confederate forefathers gallantly made their stand.

Briefly, perhaps very briefly, Confederate Flags greatly outnumbered the US flag. Yes for a brief time our Flag honoured the men who fought for our Liberty. Despite the glares, threats and protests of current day suppressors of American Liberty one gross of 4 inch Flags covered this hallowed ground.

Walking along the march taken in the advance on Fort Stedman, counting the 228 paces, I could not help but wonder what was going through the minds of these men. Surely by this late in the War they were aware of the odds they were facing.

They knew they were outnumbered, out gunned. But on they came, pace by pace. Taking Fort Stedman, they marched on, facing even greater numbers, then slowly falling back. The odds had just been too great to overcome. Walking along the Confederatebreastworks, where the retreat from Ft. Stedman would have been visible, I could imagine how the soldiers felt standing there, watching the failure of the attempted breakthrough and knowing what it meant."

===================================================================

On Saturday and Sunday, Petersburg National Battlefield will conduct special walking tours and programs commemorating the 146th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stedman. A 60-minute walking tour of the Fort Stedman battlefield will be offered at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Living historians will portray members of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia in March, 1865 and will present firing demonstrations at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. In addition the "soldiers" will express their feelings and concerns regarding the Army of Northern Virginia as well as the general state of the Confederacy.

NC Representative Sue Myrick Joins 5-for-5 Club

Good lady. We seen to agree on everything.
=================================================================
Rep. Sue Myrick

"Rep. Sue Myrick has joined NumbersUSA's 5-for-5 club by co-sponsoring all 5 of our 5 Great Immigration Bills. On Wednesday, Rep. Myrick co-sponsored the CLEAR Act - a bill that would assist local law agencies in the enforcement of federal immigration laws.

Rep. Myrick has been a leader on reducing overall immigration levels. During the last Congress, she started the Reclaim American Jobs Caucus, which focuses on opening up jobs held by illegal aliens for unemployed Americans and ensuring that newly created jobs only go to U.S. citizens and legal immigrants. Rep. Myrick has served in the House since 1989 and has earned a career B grade.

In addition to co-sponsoring the CLEAR Act, Rep Myrick has also co-sponsored a bill to end chain migration, a bill to mandate E-Verify nationwide, a bill to end the visa lottery, and a bill that would end birthright citizenship."

EDITORIAL: Obama couldn’t care less

"Traditionally, the foreign policy elites of declining empires have never accepted the need to retrench overseas before it was too late. The U.S. establishment hasn’t either."

"If the world is in crisis, you wouldn’t know it by watching President Obama’s spring break. Between golf, basketball and the president’s upcoming trip to Rio de Janeiro, the White House is projecting a disinterested aura of business as usual. For this administration, “tuned-out” is the new normal.

The Mideast crisis is continuing, and Hillary Rodham Clinton has been the one taking the 3 a.m. phone calls. The secretary of state has been dealing with political reform in Egypt, a military crackdown in Bahrain and the continuing civil war in Libya. However, she is hampered by a chief executive who can’t make up his mind which course of action would best secure his place in history. It’s no wonder she took the opportunity to tell CNN she had no interest in continuing in the job in a theoretical Obama second term."

CBO: Obama budget worse than projected on 10-year deficit

View Image

"The Congressional Budget Office on Friday released its analysis of President Obama’s 2012 budget proposal and found it does less to rein in deficits and the debt than the administration had estimated.

CBO estimates Obama's plan would produce 10 years of deficits totaling $9.5 trillion. By 2021, it would increase the debt held by the public to 87 percent of gross domestic product."

Pew: Fox News Main TV Source of Political News in 2010

"A new study released by the Pew Internet & American Life Project shows that while more and more Americans get political news online, television is still the most popular medium to get that information.

And where do Americans get their political news on TV? A plurality say Fox News Channel."

Nathaniel Macon Of North Carolina :"The Last Of The Romans"

View ImageView Image

Senator Nathaniel Macon of North Carolina was called “the last of the Romans.” As a hard money man, he viewed gold and silver as the only constitutional currency and paper money as an evil. He was also opposed to all pensions to officers and soldiers of the Revolution “and refused a pension for himself though entitled to one, for he urged that all had been rewarded by the establishment of independence and freedom, and that was sufficient in itself.”

=======================
Nathaniel Macon on American Self-Determination:

Buck Springs, February 9, 1833

“Sir: I have received your letter of the 24th ulto.

There can be no doubt that the United States are in a deplorable situation, and that the publication of the opinion you desire would be useless. My opinion has never been a secret, and I have always stated it to those who wanted to know it.

In the year 1824, the Constitution was buried. The Senators who were then present will, it is believed, recollect the fact, and was never afterward quoted by me while I continued in the Senate. The opinions of General Washington, Mr. Jefferson and Governor Clinton were known but not respected.

I never believed that a State could nullify and remain in the Union, but always believed that a State could secede when she pleased, provided she would pay her proportion of the public debt. This right I have considered the best guard to public liberty and the public justice that could be desired, and it ought to have prevented what is now felt in the South – oppression.

A government of opinion established by sovereign States cannot be maintained by force. The use of force makes enemies, and enemies cannot live in peace.”

The Blood On Obama's Hands

Not that I don't detest Qadaffi, but to quote my Congressman, Walter Jones, who is absolutely one of the best, being a compatriot of Ron Paul,

"........how much more can we give treasure and blood?"

It's time to defend our own shores, period.
=================================================================

"There are policy issues that every president must work through. Every decision comes with a consequence. In the past such decisions have caused our presidents a great deal of anguish. The decision to drop the atomic bomb, for instance. Even couched in the knowledge that the sacrifice of several thousand lives saved millions of others could not have made the consequences of that decision any easier to deal with. There were, even at best, tens of thousands of lives on the shoulders of Harry Truman. He knew directly that his decision to drop the bomb would cause these deaths. He feared the weapon and its destructive power. Did the images so easily conjured up in a realistic mind haunt him at night? But, Truman was smart enough to understand that taking refuge in inaction was no absolution to the hell that would follow. In other words, the failure to drop the bomb would also weigh on his shoulders as millions of lives were spent as a direct result of his unwillingness to make the first decision.

This is where Obama thinks he gets a pass."
