U.S. RIFLE, CALIBER 7.62MM, M14 - OPERATION AND CYCLE OF FUNCTIONING

Via James C.

I liked the M-1 more than the M-14, but the M-2 Carbine the most.

  1. Waaay back in '67, when I was in Basic and AIT, we had the M14. What a beautiful piece of equipment! It didn't mater what you did to it, it kept on a workin'. Qualified expert with it.

Then....before shippin out, we had to go through some specialty training, and was introduced to the the toy made by Mattel. IMHO, at that time, and continuing on to this day.....what a piece of crap they saddled us with!

Put up with that damned thing the entire ten years that I was in.

    Give me the M14.

  2. I wasn't impressed with the M-16 either.

  3. Still don't own an AR - though I'm probably going to break down and get one soon while I still can.

I'm actually really fond of my Mini-14 though - and contrary to conventional-wisdom it's actually pretty damn accurate once I added a strut under the bbl...

The action - modeled after the M1A less the connector & selector - is damn near bulletproof, and elegant to boot!

If I could afford an M1A I'd have one, but... I'll likely end up with a CETME to fill my .308 need...

  4. Yes, I would love a M1 "thumb" to compliment my AK.:) I loved the little M-2 carbine, not as powerful a cartridge, but fun to shoot.
