  1. They're making a list, they're checking it twice.... They're gonna determine who's naughty and nice.... DHS is coming....to town.

  3. Don't generally care for Jones - sometimes he seems almost to be an agent provocateur - but it's hard to see stuff like HR645 in any other light...

  5. Ron Paul has brought him along a good bit. Below is from 2009 and consists of Jones interviewing Paul. Quite good, I thought.

  6. Not Walter, Alex.

    Sorry I wasn't more clear...

On another note, I've seen the warrant, signed by the then governor of NC, banning "all descendants of [my Maternal G-Grandfather] from the state of NC for 100 years, on penalty of death."

Apparently some 2 or 3 years later, his son petitioned Hizzonner to be alowed to return only for a short visit, for the psurpose of tending his Father's grave.

A scant week or two later, a wagon appeared at their new home in VA, accompanied by a detatchment of the NC state militia. On it was Daddy's rotting corpse.

The captain delivered a message from Hizzonner the governor, to the effect "I trust this will conclude any remaining business you may have in the state of NC..."

OTOH, my Paternal folks arrived in NC in (IIRC) the 1720's and remained through jthe 19th century, though apparently my DIRECT forebears was a (hack-spit) Unionist...

Too much more for this off-topic comment, but th is was prompted by your "black kinfolk" post as I have some too...

  7. So, why were they banned? I guess I'm dense......

  8. Not dense - I didn't go into it... Here's what I've been told:

Apparently coal was found in a mountain, & the easiest way to get it out required the land my people owned.
Another local had done quite well for himself working for "The Company" helping convince folk to sell. G-Gpa wouldn't budge, and the situation nearly went to rifles.
One day he's out plowing his rock-farm "field" with his old broke-back mule when the stooge shows up, hat in hand, expressing remorse. "We're all mountain-folk, and I let them slickers' money lead me wrong. I wish I could take it back, but just to show you there ain't no hard feelings, why don't you use my team (high-$ matched set of pulling-horses)..."

So he's working away when the Sheriff rides up - "man says you STOLE them horses!"

A couples of weeks later - after a trial - they hung him for a horse-thief.

Within a day or two, people started having accidents... Apparently the accuser fell off his horse & hit his head on a rock - popped it like a ripe melon! Then the Sheriff... and the jury-foreman, then...and...and...and... Apparently folks were dropping like flies, having all SORTS of freak accidents, and nothing could ever be pinned on the sons...

Then some locals - not sure how" official" - tried to "arrest" them and lead started flying, ending up with the state defense force involved...

Eventually the Governor said "get out and STAY out, or die..." They moved to VA, in the mountains just over the border...

When they asked to be able to tend their Daddy (the "horse thief") 's grave, they dug him up and sent him to them...

As I said, I've seen the "and STAY OUT!" warrant, but the rest is all "family lore", though I DO know that my Grandpa wouldn't ever go into NC... He was mean as a snake & a real killer in his own right, but he'd never cross that line...

  9. Thanks. Are you sure you have the name of the governor correct? I couldn't come up with anything.

  10. No clue what his name was...

    "hizzonner" = "his honor..."

    ; o)

    Sorry...
